Just thought I'd post this. I find this guy and the whole situation hilarious.

Hello I am looking for a DOP, not just any DOP but a DOP that has balls.
I mean a DOP that is not afraid, that doesn't need 4 HMIs to light up an exterior scene, that uses all the equipment he asked for. That won't tell me on the day of the shoot that it can't be done. That wants to be inspired. That knows who Vilmos Zsigmond, Bill Butler, Gordon Willis and Conrad Hall are. Some one that wants to make cinema. Students are welcomed seeing that many people get bitter after they graduate and lose the motivation to inspire.

Location: Montreal
Compensation: TBD
Principals only. Recruiters, please don't contact this job poster.
Please, no phone calls about this job!
Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.

Then he posted again.

Many replied some wanted to be inspired others well...I figure it hit a nerve.
To the haters I say this: Before you mock at my credentials or ask what have I done I say ask those questions to yourself.
The names of cinematographers I mentioned learned how to work with what was available to them.
A new wave is coming. Like the one in France years ago. Film Auteurs will once again break the rules.
The DOPs with no balls will NEED enough equipment to light the scene to cover his ass from any angle.
The DOPs with no balls will say it can't be done when they should be saying 'They can not do it'
The Dops with no balls will shy away from the film THEY worked on.
The DOPs with no balls will have thousands of dollars worth of equipment yet have not filmed anything they created.
The DOPs with no balls will blast a guy for putting an add out on Craig's List looking for a DOP and ask for credentials when their own web site is either down (maybe forgot to pay the yearly fee) or the videos do not play( very professional).
Be inspired, go create.

My favorite is what he offers as compensation.

Haha. Isn't it the grip department that normally has balls? They put them on the sticky outy end of the C-stands! :) (Or on the feet to protect surfaces).

i'll translate for you.

The DOPs with no balls will NEED enough equipment to light the scene to cover his ass from any angle.
i don't have enough money to pay for lights.

The DOPs with no balls will say it can't be done when they should be saying 'They can not do it'
i don't understand enough about cinematography to understand why it can't be done.

The Dops with no balls will shy away from the film THEY worked on.
my previous films have turned out so bad that people are ashamed to admit they worked on the project.

The DOPs with no balls will have thousands of dollars worth of equipment yet have not filmed anything they created.
i can't even afford to rent lights, how am i supposed to pay you based on the equipment you have?

The DOPs with no balls will blast a guy for putting an add out on Craig's List looking for a DOP and ask for credentials when their own web site is either down (maybe forgot to pay the yearly fee) or the videos do not play( very professional).
i have no credentials and i didn't realize the link you sent to totalfuckingidiotdirectorpostingoncraigslist.com was a joke.

This Craigslist poster reeks of the "I'll make a movie for pennies and sell it for millions! Just like Blair Witch/Paranomal Activity!" the problem with so many of these "cheap" feature films is that they embody the get-rich-quick mentality, when film-making is neither a sure path to riches, easy, OR cheap. Do it because you love it, not because you think it's easier to get rich than flipping houses.
