For all you guys using Edius and the HMC 150, GV has announced thaat Edius 5.5 should be out around NAB and it will finally have the Booster (currently in Neo 2.5) that will allow true native AVCHD multistream realtime editing.

This is wonderful news. I took Edius 5 off my laptop and replaced it with Edius Neo Booster so I could edit AVCHD without transcoding. It is a game changer for Same Day Edits.

It is also wonderful for every day editing as well. In addition to saving time, it is also saving a lot of hard drive space. A typical 50-60 Gb wedding stays that size instead of becoming 250-350 Gb.

You can also edit straight from the card without copying the files over to the hard drive. It does cut down on the performance, but it could work for certain applications.

Edius Neo does not have Multicam, Title Motion and a few other things I miss so I am really looking forward to getting Edius 5.5.

Same here Mark... I had a temporary lack of judgement and switched to PPro CS4.2 for my AVCHD but since getting Neo 2.5 with my HMC40 and trying it out, I'm solidly back in the Edius camp and can't wait for 5.5.
Adobe claims the new Mercury engine (and an expensive CUDA card) editing AVCHD will be a game changer... Heck, I'm doing that now on an i5 LAPTOP with no special hardware!
The game changed when GV updated Neo 2 and now Edius to 5.5.

I'll probably be diving in for 5.5 but meanwhile a question for you guys using the NEO Booster. What is the render time like for converting AVCHD on the timeline to files for DVD and BD-R? Is it as quick as HQ or slow as HD native?

I haven't tested the time, but it's pretty quick from the Blu-Ray I did make from a 1 HR timeline. I don't remember it taking long at all.
