Should I shoot in 720 24pn or 30pn?

In Jan and Feb I will be shooting a movie, less than an hour. It's target market will be DVD, no delusions of the big screen here. I keep reading that 30FPS is preferred for DVD distribution as it displays better on a conventional TV.

I do like the look of 24FPS, looks a bit more filmic (not much though). And it will give me an extra 4 minutes per 8gb P2 card. On the other hand , 30FPS is more forgiving of fast pans.

Which would you shoot?

I'd shoot 24P, if you like the look. Has always gone to DVD well for me and looks good on small SD screens and large HD screens. 30P looks fine too of course but if you like that 24P "look" then I say go for it. Its primarily what I shoot for space savings and I too like the way it looks.

If you like the look of 24p, there's no reason not to use it. DVD players are optimized to play 24fps content so you'll get more storage space, a more filmic look, and better DVD authoring.

Could you tell me what the negative is regarding in shooting HD in 60i ? I am a little confused on this. Thans.

There's no negative to it if what you want is that "live" look. Progressive is better, especially for the "film look", but 1080/60i works fine for the live look with normal interlacing issues.
