Editing Monitor questions for my Af100

a little off topic but does anyone know if you need a video capture card to connect an external monitor? My laptop has a decent nvidia geforce gtx 470 graphics card, and on the system it mentions about connecting a second monitor, so does this mean i can just connect a second one straight up or do you still need an external video capture card?

Does your laptop have two connectors. I doubt it.

I assume that on a laptop you can set up your laptop screen as the primary screen and a second monitor via the single DVI connector.

FWIW - My Asus N55S Laptop only has a RGB video connector. I am not sure if I could get that to2 function as a second monitor in Premiere. It may only mirror the laptop screen. I also have HDMI out and not sure how that would functionfor that purpose either.

I am not a fan for laptop NLE systems.

I HIGHLY recommend monitors from Flanders. They really are some of the best you can get and include way more features then the average monitor. I showed up to their facilities and they sat me down and it took an hour for them to show me every feature of my LM-2140W because there are piles and piles of configs, settings, etc. with more being added all the time via firmware.

I agree that is a great monitor ...but from the O.Ps early choices..I suspect well outside his budget,

Hey thanks for the replies, yes that flanders does look incredible, unfortanetly way out of my price range though sigh.... Currently I have finally narrowed it down to the following three: the dell u2312 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-U2312-Widescreen-Panel-Monitor/dp/tech-data/B003R7K332/ref=de_a_smtd which has a lot of fans, is ips but only 6 bit pretending to be an 8bit monitor. My main concern with this is the anti glare coating it has on the screen, many people complain it "sparkles" and if it wasnt for this i would have probably already bought this as its only £190.

The second option is more of the wild card - the viewsonic vp2365 led, http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewSonic-V...72/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1343636027&sr=8-10 looks pretty good, no glare coating or "sparkles". Some argument on whether it really is 6 bit or an 8 bit panel. For only £200 it has be seriously considering.

Then the final option is the eizo fs2331 monitor, which at £280 is the most expensive here by a bit. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eizo-FS2331...VBQK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1343632996&sr=8-1 But it's true 8 bit and seems to have the best colour reproduciton results after being calibrated. It isnt an ips monitor but i dont think that should be too much of a problem for viewing angles (as i'll only sit right in front of it anyways). To be honest i think this is the one I seem to think is the "best" out of the current choice, but at £80 more am debating if it's that much better than the viewsonic. Anyone used any of these 3?
