Editing footage from the HVX

I was wondering if anyone knew what speed of system I would need to edit 720p footage from the HVX? I have heard of people using older G4 systems and seem to work good, but is that really substantial for editing the footage without stuttering and freezing up?

Also, how much hardware performance would be needed to smoothly edit 1080p footage from the HVX?

I'd start at least with a G5 or a current Intel IMac. You can squeak by with the G4 powerbooks or desktops but then you'll be missing out on a lot of the cool stuff in FCP 6. So I'd go for a new top line MacBook Pro, Mac Pro or at least new iMac.
