Editing AVCHD with CS4 by Panasonic - 720p/24p ?

I have CS4 4.0.1.

There is no 720/24p preset. None

Then ran the update utility and I have the latest version of CS4 Premiere.

David,

Can you import your AVCHD 720p/24 files directly into a new project using the XDcam 720p24 preset without transcoding HDVpro?

Echoing David a hundred times. On my "medioqure" editing machine, a 2.5GHZ dual-core laptop, Premiere CS4 crashes and dies when I try to do basic editing with native AVCHD. I'm transcoding it all to DVCProHD and it cuts like DV - beautiful.

This is both in my primary Vista partition and my "squeaky-clean" XP partition.

The latest version of Premiere CS4 is 4.1.0 and it does have a preset for 720p/24.

Version 4.0.1 did not have 720 presets.

Regards,
Ken

Hi Allen,
Roughly how long does it take you to transcode from AVCHD to DVCPRO HD?
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Home777,

It goes a little slower than real-time, maybe 85-90% speed.

On the Core 2 Quad 2.6GHZ desktop I'm borrowing for this summer goes a little faster than real-time, maybe 110-115%.

It would be a lot easier if that transcoder had a counting feature. As it is I've begun to time transcodes several times but invariably I'm not looking exactly when it finishes so I don't know for sure.

Also, I take back everything about CS4 "crashing and dying with AVCHD" - the new 4.1 patch is a huge improvement and editing is now bearable. It's not a great experience, particularly when shuttling the time indicator around, but I could definitely get an edit done in a reasonable time.

AVCHD editing CS4.1 on a Mac

I have a Panasonic HMC 150 and can not play the footage (strobe like plus mosaic)
The Adobe tech support manager has "escalated" this as of Wed Sept 23rd because he has had "100 calls about this recently". Test footage sent to Panasonic Enginnering is "clean".
I have seen training videos from Adobe importing HMC 150 footage onto a OS 10.5.6 --- 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 8 gig memory- and it was perfect.
Anybody Edit Mac Premier4.1 and sucessful with AVCHD??
