Which of the following setups will give better out put? Any alternative suggestions in the similar price range ~1000$ or may be little bit more?

And you didn't ask about mics, all else being equal, I think the recording quality will be better with the Edirol alone.
And one very important note: No mixer, recorder, or microphone "makes" the signal "clean". With location recording work, the only thing we can do to a signal is make it worse, never better. The goal is to minimize the damage as much as our budgets will allow.
The sound per dollar right now is low=zoom H2; mid=fostex FR2LE; upper mid=tascam 680
After the Tascam you can pay more but the difference will A) be very small B) may be worse
If you want some real audiophile stuff there is plenty to choose from, but the difference is pretty small
The Edirol is a fine sounding unit, the Tascam has 8 channels and the latest converter chips.
A lot of ppl like the Sony, too, the ones above are just my faves and I've used them extensively.
Lots to choose from; absolutely can't go wrong with the Tascam DR 680
Was wondering how noticeable would the difference be, if the sound is recorded on 744T and modified R44 and may be other recorders put in?
Yup. Great machine. The Fostex FR2LE is all you'll ever need for a smallish indie production. 2 XLR inputs is its only drawback. I picked up mine for around $400 (usually go for around $500). The Zoom is by far the weakest of the bunch. Skip the Edirol and spend the extra money somewhere else -- like on an NTG3 ($700).
