Easy Photo Managing Software (OS X) for My Mom?

So my mom is in her early 50's. She can check her Gmail and forward spam to family and friends and she knows how to chat online and recently joined Facebook. -_-

I've been trying to teach my mom how to import pictures off her P&S from a memory card reader into Lightroom. Lightroom is automatically setup to launch on card detection and open the import dialog. I taught my mom to click import all as Lightroom will automatically detect files already imported and only the new pictures would be copied to the hard drive organized by date, then eject the card when the import is finished.

I have taught her how to do this over 10 times, but she never remembers despite writing down directions (several times). She has now requested the be taught the ability to e-mail pictures to friends and family...

So I need something easier than Lightroom that my mom can just plug and pray, backup the pictures from the memory card into a similar folder structure where it imports and organizes by date, as well as some visual GUI that will make it easy for her to send as attachments from her Gmail.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Plug and pray? Hm... Googling "PhotoRapture" right now, but no luck.

But seriously, you have a Mac... iPhoto doesn't get much simpler. It imports, and organizes by "event" (date) and the user interface can sort by folders, events, or all photos. And once files are imported to the computer, they should be deleted from the card. That'll simplify the work flow.

And you can export photos that are optimized for email or Internet. And as you go over the how-to on this, you might write down a simplified, step-by-step cheat sheet that she can use.

Screw iPhoto. Since she uses Gmail, just install the new Picasa 3.5. She can email right from the application. And it's rather easy to grasp.

I'm primarily a Windows user, so I don't play with the default programs Apple has to offer. Hence my lack of iPhoto experience. I'll have to look into it more. I wouldn't delete the files on the card after transfer because I'm using that as a medium for archival. When my mom fills up her current 32GB card, I will buy her a new one. She also has an iPod Touch, so I don't know if the iPhoto workflow would make things easier.

I never really gave Picasa a shot because I shoot raw and I didn't like the way it organized my files because I have my own archaic OCD way of structuring my folders. But for my mom, that may just be the hot ticket. Does Picasa automatically resize images to web resolution images for e-mail without taking up more space on the hard drive? Is it possible to store more than 1GB on the Google servers?

I would support the iPhoto suggestion as well. Easy to use, but elegant, interface and a lot of features for an app that is included with the computer.

Sorry if i sounded too harsh... I never liked iPhoto for being such a HDD hog. Aperture is nice though.

Anyway, $20/year gives you 10GB of storage. Not sure if it stores smaller copies. I don't think so.
