Here's an odd issue:
When we purchased our 300, the dealer was out of the 32 GB "E" series cards we ordered, so he lent us two 64 GB "A" series cards.
I also bought a few of the PCI 3.25" P2 (PCMCIA) readers for some of our editors. I installed them (in the PCs that would physically accommodate the PCI card with the bulky IDE ribbons attached--but that's another story), and was able to read the "A" series cards with no problems after the P2 Windows drivers were installed.
In comes our "E" series cards. All of a sudden, the PCI readers freeze up the computers (Windows XP Pro 32-bit) when trying to access them in the P2 viewer. In fact, in at least one PC, XP gave a blue screen of death when the "E" series card was inserted. That same PC previously read the "A" series cards with no issues.
I realize there is a difference between the "A" and "E" series cards, but are the differences enough that would cause this crashing issue? Is it possibly because the transfer speed of the "E" series cards are 2x that of the "A", and the PCI reader can't handle the speed?
I *think* I resolved the issue on at least one or two of the PCs in the office by reinstalling the P2 driver with one of the new "E" series cards in the drive, but at least one of the other PCs still seems to want to crash when playing clips in the P2 viewer. It also previously read the "A" series cards just fine.
Thoughts?
