e no bs D90 mjpeg compression assessment

why someone should ever take advice from you i don't know.

LOL. Tell that to one of my clients who owns a real estate company. A year and a half ago he was wondering why I didn't purchase a house, it was so easy. I told him real estate was overvalued and the tricky lending practices put forth were dangerous. I said to him that the whole thing would be crashing like a burnt rocket. He dismissed my opinions and guess what? His business is about to go under. You have an extra grand to invest in the D90? Go ahead. It sure takes beautiful 12 megapixel stills. That could be good for something.

The D90 video is just an "experiment" from Nikon. That's all. If you want to look for a quality image were there isn't any, it is ok, knock yourself over...

Quite amusing. What´s all this fuss about? Eveybody knows what´s going on here:

- you can get really good results with the D90 if you consider some workarounds
- for the bad compression there is no workaround
- Nikon made a lot of mistakes in the video-mode
- most D90-owner (filmmaker + videographer) wait for a better solution
- if there will be one with manual control at an acceptable price almost all of them will toss away this cam
- the D90 is further on an excellent piece for still´s
......................................... and so on.............

The fuss is about john's tendency to post the exact same thing in every thread here, and no matter what the context it's always the same argument. Hence it's clear that all he wants is to make his own failure seem less significant by bashing the camera. It's annoying and counter productive.

Like I said recently, if you have a spare grand around and you want to blow it on a clunker (the movie mode), by all means I encourage you to do it. Yeah do it, it will help the economy. On the other hand, if you are looking for a great stills camera, it is excellent and I really, really reccomend it because I am the happy owner of one. What part of that assestment, based on my experience with it, people don't understand?

Well despite John's complaints people are managing to make good material on the D90. I've gotta agree that we've all heard the same complaint before and it's getting old.
