hi all,

after watching some footage from the canon hv20,i see that the dynamic range isnt really that great,i believe that its all about the dynamic range of the camcorder that makes it shine,cuz what good is it if the video is HD if you see all these hot spots on your image,so that kinda kills it for me,my question is what camcorder is their thats HD and the best dynamic range i could get for $1000?

None. Dynamic range is mostly a combination of chip size and pixel density. You need to spend big, big money to get cameras with bigger size chip (1/2'' and up) before you can see any noticeble increase in dynamic range.
 
but the thing is when i see hv20 footage the picture looks a little burned,but sony hc7 doesnt really have that problem,besides the 24p what do you think would be better the canon hv20 or the sony hc7
 
For the price range you are talking about, it is going to come down to the skill of the camera operator when it concerns hot-spots in the image.
 
ya thats true,its so hard choosing.i cant deiscide 240fps with sony or 24p with canon lol,sony is built stronger,but im going with the canon i guess,thanks for your help guys

Are you comparing footages that are shot in the SAME conditions but using different cameras? It's all about exposing correctly and using lighting, reflectors to compensate for poor dynamic range.
 
i just got it,but the quality of the camcorder isnt that great,feels like a $100 camcorder,also when i shake the camera i little i hear something lose in their,is it soppost to be like that?

That's a normal noise for any camera with OIS. You should only hear it when turned off.
