Sorry to hear about your loosing Bing. From that picture, sure looks like you created the perfect life for him. (What a deal - hang out, be loved, snooze, & watch the slaves work.)

Sorry brother.

When i was smokin pot years ago, the dealer had a cat. White with red eyes.
Whenever I vistited the guy to get some stuff - the cat was watching me.
One day I smoked to much and thought that this cat can read my mind ;D
Those red eyes.
I have never had a cat (got about 20 hamsters though) - but I love those creatures.
Take care my brother. Your cat is looking at you from heaven. They go there too right?

it is sad to say good bye to a lovely small life.what we can do is when we are alive, try to love the world every minute.and we will feel they all still alive with us.

Sorry Jared, I had a cat die from kidney failure. I had a 17 year old cat get run over by my exgirlfriend. And MY cat ran away, all within the last year. I'm with you man. :(

Yeah... Its wierd, I am probally the most unemotional guy in Canada but man loosing him hit me like a ton of bricks.. This thread is really helping though, I was a little hesitant of sharing this with you guys but man am I glad I did.. you guys really kick ass.

Hey Jarred, I'm so sorry to hear that... Such a cute and (obviously) wise cat deserved to be the real master of dvxuser.com for a lot more time, with its "eyes wide shut"... :'(

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I do understand your pain. I too, am a cat person. I now have two. They are brothers and are precious as anything, the best little buddies. I had a cat before while I was a District Manager working from my home and Alex was my co-worker. He was like yours, there for me.

When he passed I was a bit of a basket case and I set about trying to find a cat that would be predictably that owner centric. I decided that I wanted an Abyssinian and what I got was an Abby/Occicat mix. I found them, I should say their mother at a Cat Show. I had to commit to them while they were still in the womb. I swear, Smokie is the reincarnate of Alex.

So, to answer your question, when do you go looking for a new kitty, NOW. Spend some time to find the next best friend and try to enjoy the process.

Sam Morris and Gandolf both are gone now,
I still think of them, they were a source of inspiration and energy that only a cat can give.
Sam Morris got me through school and Gandolf inspired me to continue my education. They taught me to go with my instincts and no matter what happens they will always be there - even when they pass.

Jared I just wanted to share my sympathies. As I sit here my little buddy sleeps next to me. I can't imagine losing her. She is only 3 1/2 as well and just thinking about your loss brings tears to my eyes. You and your site have helped out so many of us and I am glad to see all of the support.

Deepest condolences on Kitty. I've outlived three of my four cats and it never gets easy.

At the risk of sounding insane (I'm an NYC lawyer--and filmmaker--for pete's sake), over the next few months there will be moments now and then, usually at night, when you catch movement in the corner of your eye. That's his spirit paying his respects.

Finally: It won't be hard to know the right time for a new cat. It will pick you. It will be a certain look it gives you through a window or cage.

So as best you can, think only on the good times. That's what cats are here to teach us anyway.

Yeah, in time you will get another friend, but don't feel all rushed to run out and do it right now just because others say so.

You'll know when the time is right.

Jarred, sorry about the bad news. I have two cats (Howie and Corky) and they are the best companions.
My first cat (Harley) used to take care of me when I got Migraine headaches. I gave him to my mom, now he's taking care of her.
