DVXuser Forum Upgrade: Feedback, Questions, Answers...

there are still some things that need indexing, etc. so the search might be a bit off for a bit until I can run all that stuff...

I'll also put back in a google search, as vb search function, I've never found to be that user friendly in the first place. I usually find what I'm looking for much more quickly using google.

working on a 1.1 revision... should have the first set of changes for you guys tonight or tomorrow... this first set will mostly just be font and coloring changes... once we get that stuff to a happier place, will move on to layout revisions/modifications...

Later,
Jason

I added some transparency to the "muted" statusicons... (no unread posts stuff) to give a bigger difference... You will likely need to do a hard refresh on the necessary pages (one time) to show the new images...

Perfect color for read/unread Jason! Looks great now, only if yiu could darken "started buy" a tone more, would be perfect!

I'll look at it...

I forced the style to the 1.1 version... not sure if everyone got bumped to it immediately or not.... one way to confirm is the editor boxes (like the one I'm typing this message in right now)... should be looking at a dark'ish grey background with white text now... few other minor cosmetic changes, and an overall change in the fonts of the boars to be more like the old version of dvxuser...

p.s. there are some bugs with some of the styling as it relates to internet explorer versions 6 and 7 that have not yet been corrected by vb... so, hang with me a bit if you are using one of those older browsers, and I'll work on correcting in the near future (if a fix doesn't come first)

with white text?

the background of this box I am typing in is just a touch darker grey than the grey for posts.... and the text is white. this is what you should be seeing...

My background as I type this is the same white as the letters. So I had to change to black letters so I could see what I was typing. Which makes it display wonky for everyone else.

I'm doing this from win7 64 bit and IE 8.0.7600.16385 64 bit. I'll try it from Firefox and see what that's like and append to this if I can find it.

Ah, cool. With Firefox 3.6.10 32 bit, I see a gray background and can therefore see my white letters. Not that I like white letters on a gray background -- but my personal choice is fairly meaningless here. All I'm saying is that it works with Firefox.

sillyness....

Ok... should be fixed in ie now... added additional css definition for this section which looks like it worked for ie as well.

OK, minor improvements are promising. Posts rendering bug is not fixed.
I hope that we'll see more serious stuff soon.

The "thread started by" text should be white, instead of medium gray. Much easier to read.

The upgrade look good.

On the downside, new site do not render well in Blackberry browser. The older version was a pleasure to read on the Blackberry.

If not asking for too much, a mobile version sometime in future would be fantastic.

Thank you for the entire team for the hard work.

Sweet!

Also, I miss the little forum selection box and GO button on the lower right of the page. Or at least a quick way to get back to the parent forum. "Quick Navigation" isn't very "Quick" at the moment. One click is better than two. :D

I don't know if this has been requested yet, but when viewing the list of all forums, wouldn't it make more sense to have:

FORUM NAME Last Post Total Posts Subscribe to this forum/RSS buttons

Right now you see the forum, then you have to go all the way to the other side of the screen to see the most recently posted thread. On a wide screen monitor that's a long way for the eye to travel. I consider the most recent post seem a lot more important than "subscribe to the forum/RSS" buttons or total forum stats.

The colors are looking a lot better, by the way. Good job.

Michael
