You guys are coming up with some amazing ideas for the Red camera. I would hope that Mr.Jannard would consider giving a special discount for DVXUSERS for all the hard work you have put into helping with his project.

Man I would pay GOOOOOD money to see that implemented....haha

There can't be much of a profit margin in a $17,500 4K camera. There's already a huge discount built into that price. Be grateful.

Ok, it's understood and respected. But at least you could give some *motives* to producers or filmmakers to include a nice statement that they used RED for their professional production! This means powerfull advertisement (marketing) of course! Like say, 5% of RED's price for each professional RED production (e.g with a "This production has been made possible with the RED cameras" statement). This means that after 20 succesfull productions the filmmaker will take his money back!
Now add to this an insurance company (and/or a bank) that will guarantee those 20 future productions (with some criteria) and will provide the money upfront to RED and here you are: The first ...FREE HD camera!
Now *that's* marketing! This would be a kickstart for low budget but future-proof producers/filmmakers and would build a huge RED club with succesful fan followers!
Too good to be true?
Anyway, had to post it!
:) :) :)
