DVXFest Mirror Providers - Please Read

Larry Rutledge

Fest Master
Over the past several fests several of us, myself included, have provided mirrors to help offset the cost and resource load from Jarred. In order to accomplish this, however, it requires each mirror operator to download all the films, then use their ISP's, usually slow, upload process to get the files onto their respective servers.

This time around I think I can help improve that process. I have a script that will allow me to push the files directly from my server to yours, all I need is a the ftp server hostname, username and password. I would suggest setting up a special account that points directly at the folder where you wish the files to be stored.

If you intend to run a mirror, please PM or e-mail (larry at nrestudios dot com) me with this information and as soon as I have all the files I will push the files to you and then notify you when they are there.

This should help speed up the process of getting mirrors online and hopefully will make the download for viewing process better for everyone.

Peace,
Larry

Bumping...in case anyone missed it. So far I've received info for one mirror, so we'll have two mirrors (mine included) for sure.

I don't know...but not everyone uses, or wants to use, torrent. So for those of us, non-torrent savvy folk we'll have these mirrors :)

That doesn't mean they won't be using torrent's...I haven't heard anything either way.

I don't know much about torrents other that my experience downloading the RED footage. I finally gave up on the torrent and got it from Mikko's mirror...

Larry, I've got a TON of bandwidth available, as well as storage space. Let me know if you need/want another server for your use. Otherwise, all this mirror stuff goes right over my head. :)

Norm -

If you know how to set up an FTP account on your hosting, then by all means hook us up :) If not, PM me and I can probably help you out.

As far as the mirror goes...no worries, I'll hook everything up for you once the FTP is setup.

Jason - the current mirror providers are: myself (Larry R), you (Jason Ramsey), Mikko, fixitinpost, and conrad_johnson. Plus whatever sites Jarred sets up. So, we'll have at least 7 servers (assuming I get Norm up and running and only 1 from Jarred).

Not too shabby, huh? :)

Peace,
Larry

Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Mirror, mirror on the wall.

I'm in. I have my own server with a terabyte of bandwidth.

Even though it looks like I won't be entering Drama-Fest at this point, I still want to be part of the fun.

So I would love to be a mirror!

Nice StormFactory...just PM me the ftp connection info (hostname, username, and password). I'll take care of getting the files pushed to your server and put a viewing page there as well.

And, by the way, why aren't you going to be in? I was looking forward to your project. The poster and banner were so pro and intriguing.

Thanks,
Larry

i could allocate up to 100gb of disc space and 2000gb of data transfer. if that is sufficient, i'd love to help out.

FTP PM sent.

I'm not going to be in because work and buying a home had almost 100% of my time. When I was able to take a moment to focus on Drama-Fest, the deadline was here. I'm extremely happy with the actors and the story and script. I really want to enter, but as of this moment I know that I won't have the film that I was setting out to make. I'd rather not submit then submit something that I'm not proud to put my name on. I owe it to everyone involved to do the film right. So I'm going to shoot one more scene this weekend once my lead gets back in town.

You'll be able to see the film soon though because I'm still trying to make the February 16 deadline for The Lot.

I now have a few frame grabs on my film page if you want to check them out.
