DVX100B Backfocus

On my 100B, I recently discovered that when I zoom in to focus and then zoom out, that the focus is not the same, and then when I zoom in again, it is WAY out of focus. I know that this is due to the backfocus being off and from what I have heard, this frequently happens to DVX100 users. I know a lot of people go ahead and just open up their DVX and manually adjust it... I feel confident enough to try that so what part do I open up, what should I be careful of, and what exactly do I do to adjust the backfocus and what does it look like? I do not know any other Panasonic users so you guys are my only hope...

EDIT: I DID try the little reset button and it didn't work...

I don't recommend taking apart the camera, but I will say that I had this issue and searched endlessly for an answer, and was pretty damn close to sending it in and paying upwards of 300 bucks to have it fixed when I decided to try the reset button.

this worked for me.

try it yourself and please report back here because there is no easily attainable information out there on the backfocus with the dvx100.

cheers

Behind the flip out screen, right next to the audio monitor level buttons to the left. A little small button that you hit with a pen or something small...

Andy,
As you may know, back focus issues can be software or hardware related. A competent authorized repair facility (Digitron in L.A or Rob's Repair in WA) can do a "software alignment" which may solve the issue and optimize camera functions. They will also be able to determine if the lens assembly itself is defective and won't respond to the software fix ( one of my brand new DVX100a cams had a bad lens assembly right out of the box...it happens. The replacement from Panasonic has been flawless for a couple of years now).

I don't know anyone who has actually tried to fix a physical back focus problem themselves...I sure wouldn't want to risk it.
Just my .02.
