DVX100a "stand by" mode (when it "g

Still learning about my new DVX100a. When I turn it on and don't do anything with it for a few minutes, it goes into "sleep" mode, or "stand by." The LCD screen goes dark.

I guess that's what it's supposed to do. But I have a few questions...

1. How do I "wake up" the camera from this "sleep" mode? The only way I know of is to turn the power switch off (because it went to sleep while in the "on" position) and then power it back on. Is there another way to simply wake it up?

2. I might want to set up the camera where it's feeding a switcher, but is never really set to "record." Surely there must be a way to either (a.) extend the time before it falls asleep, or (b.) to prevent it from going into "sleep' or "stand by" mode at all. But how?

And yes, I've already RTFM, but somehow I missed this, and am not sure where to look for it.

Pretty simple, and I'm sure others already know the answer. Can you help me?

Fellas, let me take this one.

Menu > Other Functions >
POWEROFF = sleep after five minutes
STBY = places video heads in stop mode

Thank you. I knew it would be a simple one, but I just wasn't sure where to look to find it in the manual, and it would have been like searching for a needle in a haystack to go back thru the manual again. One of those things, I guess, that I wasn't paying attention to when I read it the first time. But now that it's shut off on me a few times, I knew there surely must be a way to keep it from shutting off.

Now, for the other question: What is the way to "wake it up" other than to power off, then on? Or IS there another way?

Before I changed mine to STBY, I was powering off/on the same way you were.

Well, I have to say that this very same problem with the standby was killing me two weeks ago when I went on my first shoot. The biggest problem was that everytime it turned itself off it would lose all my White and Black balance and I had to rebalance. I did find it in the manual afterwards but would like to know like the previous poster wether or not one can "Wake up" the camera and also not lose settings. Thanks in advance. ???

You should not be losing your settings when the camera turns itself off. There is an internal battery to keep the data such as white balance and settings in memory. ???
