Is it safe to use the DVX100a? I read that in the making of the DVX100b they had to eliminate the lead in the processing. Would that mean that it is unsafe to use the DVX100A?

Lead on PCBs is a problem when it's melted. In other words is bad for the service guys, not for the artist. I've been using lead-based solder for the past 20 years or so and my second pair of hands is still good... :)

Yes your DVX100A is dangerous. Please send it to me for proper disposal. In fact, you better send me all your pre-2004 electronics just to be safe.

:)
