Granted the dvx redrock route will be a bit more time consuming with lighting, but I don't think thats a bad thing. You will be more consious of your image due to the light loss issues of the rig. But some of my best lighting was when I use a dof adapter. And thats only because I want a clean image, nicely exposed image, and an image that has depth. Not to be mistaken with dof. what I see a lot of with dslr's, is that people dont spend as much time lighting as they should, they try to get by with nothing but ambient light whether it looks good or not. It's just easier to expose because of the low light ability. To me lighting is the most important tool in filmmaking, good lighting can make a beautiful image no matter what the camera is.
I couldn't agree more! I am so thankful I started out with film still cameras and the DVX as a video camera. The former taught me about manual exposure and metering while the DVX taught me about blown out highlights, how to deal with noise when you're underexposed, and not so much how to light but why. The last part is what is so important. What mood are you creating with your lighting scheme. Getting the shot with a DSLR in low light is just the first step in lighting it. Once you've taken care of this ambient light it's time to move toward depth, shape, and mood. It's a blast when you finally are able to achieve a shot that communicates through the lighting alone!
can anyone help with the premiere inporting issue?

Hi everyone,
I just joined the site. Great stuff here. I'm still working my way through the information.
I have a question.
Last night a DVX 100B showed up in a local Pawn Shop for sale for $ 750. Is that price too good to be true?
I forgot to check the Hrs Used. Should I avoid a purchase like this? What should I look out for?
Advice please.
The advantage of the DVX is the audio inputs and greater dynamic range (in my opinion). I don't have an adapter so shallow DOF with the DVX is much more difficult to get than it is on the canon.
