Just having some fun testing a recently acquired Andromeda mod ... absolutely love it so far.

Nothing too impressive, but you can start to see what could be done in the future..

Green screen test, uncompressed tiff at full frame size (i also cc'd it, sorry to the purists)

Super quick and lazy composite:

Test of the my35 adapter (it's all i got) and a 105mm Nikkor
(please note how the red reads perfectly with absolutely no smearing....yes!!)

and.. a couch. This is with the stock DVX lens, wide. Just using the stock lens with the andromeda gives you immaculate, noise-free images at 1540 X 984. Very cool.

Yeah .. I'll come with something better lit in the middle of the week...

that was fast? how long did it take to send it and get it back?

I had to wait a gruelling two weeks and one day. When it finally came today i was so happy that i got scared because i couldn't stop laughing and smiling. uncompressed video is like nitrous in some circles i guess

so resolution is higher? How does one do that while their filming? or can it be done in post?

You have to use a laptop or a macmini to capture the video on the fly. The data rate is too big to go onto a tape.. or even a P2 card.. it's like 28mb per second. So it gives you a lot of frame information. You have full access to all the color information.. you can color correct like nobody's business.

Anyway, check the site, they explain it more elegantly than me.

Lookin good. I hope there's a clip on the way. I've been interested in this mod for a long time.

And just so you know, you've probably opened the floodgates on another andromeda resolution/HVX resolution debate. Have fun!

I wish I could snap my fingers and have this modification done to my dvx. Oh, and have a 500gig harddrive with me at all times.

Yes Mike!

Yes Mike!

working on a spining adapter.... and the old one has better glass now and fd mounts

Mike.. good job. The optics on your glass are so good .. if that was combined with grain free spinning, you'll have a serious contender on your hands.

I was thinking of doing this same thing. Did you have to get a new laptop and do you capture to a firewire drive?

That's the thing of course .. capturing uncompressed is a lot of data.

You basically have to get a laptop or mac mini and use that in tandem with a fast firewire drive. If you have just a mac mini or laptop like I do (macmini), then you can capture clips right away (i did last night), but you can pretty quickly run out of bandwidth. I'm still finding all this out. All I know right know is that data is cheap.. uncompressed footage with full chroma .. aah pricless.

nice stills. i wish we could see some moving images. feel free to post them soon! this stuff looks amazing man. so did you get the $1500 upgrade or the full $3000?

EDIT: i don't know where i got $1500 from. disregard my question.

aw man i'm so jealous!!

I want to get this done, but on the other hand it's way expensive. I want to see if this can be done with an HVX. That would be incredible!

I think they would mod the XL2 before they did the HVX. But that's just a guess on my part.

I'm trying to figure a way to afford this mod. The full color space alone is worth it to me.
