I ran across this thread on the net and i was amazed at this guy's talent. This is by far the best wedding videos i've seen! I forgot the link to the thread but i managed to save their company link. Just look at the quality of this clip and visit their site and check out the other 3 samples on there, its amazing. I think there's something in the canadian water because so far i've seen so much talent coming out of there :o.

This guy really has some georgeous work. The only things I couldn't figure out in the 'at last' trailer is:

- the composite of the reflection in the french doors in the opening shots of the girl

- that crazy rainbow in the sunsplash. it almost doesn't look real in slow mo. but in the shot, it looks GREAT! I don't know. I can't tell.

Of course, it helps to have a chick that hot for your shoot. You know he was all into that job.

I love how adding slow motion to any wedding footage instantly makes it better...

Nice, I didn't think wedding stuff could look so artistic. VERY pretty looking footage!

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

Yeah! Those guys are awesome.

I also do wedding videos and I have to admit that BluecoreMedia are one of the best companies out there.

I'm not sure if they use the DVX though! They may be using it now.

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

The butterfly was a 3d creation of someone very talented and then composited in.

Also, you know these guys are pulling in prob'ly a minimum of $5K per event base rate. Man oh man.... nice.

I'll take two of those a month and be happy. At least that's what I'm going to try and do this year. :-)

Really, all it takes is a nice camera, good shooting-sense and nice sound. The editing stuff isn't blow your mind hard, either. I can do this... I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... I checked out some of the event videographers in my area and oh man... I can't believe these people are even in business.

Wow, what luck to have a butterfly go through the garden at just the right time. Clearly, these guys aren't talented, they're just lucky. Ahem.

All seriousness aside, this gives me shivers because it "raises the bar" on the wedding video concept. It looks like a wedding scene from a big budget major motion picture. I think I COULD do that kind of work but CAN'T right now. Then, how do you market it so that you can charge top dollar? Right now I'm embedded in a very packed "Video Production Services" section of the Yellow Pages and don't have enough time to promote otherwise (videography is my third job-my other two are during the week).

By the way, it almost seemed that they didn't use a stablizer during the walk through the garden at the beginning, which surprises me. That's the only room for improvement I saw.

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

I went back and watched the other two wedding videos. I just think I experienced a tutorial about how to make better wedding videos.

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

I've been paying attention to these guys ever since I read a write-up about them in one of the video mags. I'm disappointed that they now have chopped the intro out of the "Getting Ready" clip, because it friggin' rocked. (Had some copyrighted music in, though -- could have been an issue.)

Forget the bride, did you see that brunette? lol

OMG, John, check out the bride, Adrienne, in "Getting Ready." Feels like being slapped.

You Vancouver guys live in a little slice of heaven, you KNOW that, don't you . . .

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

This wouldn't surprise me. In other threads on this site, people complain that they don't get smooth slow motion with the DVX100 in 24p mode. These samples seemed to have very smooth slow motion. I'm wondering if they used 16mm and overcraked it. 60i video can give really good slow motion, but these videos have the look of film. The cheapest 60p film-look video camera that I know of is the DVX100's bigger cousin the Panasonic AJ-HDC27 Varicam which costs about $65,000. It has 60p (no, I don't mean 60i) so you can do the video equivalent of overcranking a film camera to get slow motion (actually it can do any frame rate progressively-like 48p would be double the frame rate for 50% speed of 24p).

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

Anyway, whatever they are using, it looks REAL good. Other than possibly the quality of the slow motion, I suspect you could duplicate this level of professional video with a DVX100, do ya'all agree?

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

According to the article I read, the guy uses an XL-1s and a PD-150. Those clips are dated before the magazine article, so . . .

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

hmm... i wish i had saved the discussion thread. i could of sworn he said he used the dvx100a for these clips. He was talking about how the dvx100 blows the other cams away and that he stuck with the dvx100a. If i'm mistaking, i appologized but the footage over all is incredible.

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

I know the one clip is for a wedding dated July, 2002.  Couldn't have used the DVX.  DEFINITELY couldn't have used the A.

When I was a member of WEVA, this work was featured. If I remember correctly (I am about 99% sure), he uses the Sony DSR570.

Re: DVX wedding shoot. Amazing stuff!

Well, at least one of the clips on the site was not shot with the DVX100, but rather with an ENG camera (such as the DSR570) as you see the cameraman catch himself in the mirror :)

I think it was in the "getting ready" clip when they were in the bedroom that you see the camera.

Regardless of the camera used, I think that some people here did get something out of the clips, so they are still worth checking out.  Also, a varicam is not necessary to get slo-mo like they have.  Most decent NLEs can do slomo on smoothly shot stuff, and if not, there are plugins for programs like AE or otherwise that could easily do slo-mo to the extent that they have in their videos.
