DVX vs. Canon t2i

I think I'm finally ready to let my baby go. She's been good. Over 200hrs and still kicking, but I think it's time to make the jump to HD.

I've been looking at the Canon t2i being released next week. I shoot short documentaries and corporate videos. It seems like it would be a pretty good match.

Any suggestions/opinions?

:D

If it's just HD you're after, why not shoot squeeze and uprez it?

Yeah, but then he wouldn't get the Image of RED for $900.

I would not get the T2i until some real world reviews surface possibly from some of the pros here. It does shoot HD but the learning curve is pretty steep coming from a DVX. But I say do it if the T2i is a good cam and you can use it effectively for what you do. I personally would not get one if you do any type of long form shooting, the time limit could be a problem (if it even has one).

But the price sure is right.

That is very true. I will probably wait for a few reviews before purchasing.
From what the specs say, the t2i can record up to 30min non-stop, but for a 4GB card that's only 12min @ 1080.

I just want to try and make a decent dollar off the DVX before it's too late.

If Panasonic stops making them in, say, five years, I wonder if the used market will benefit in a substantial way given the camera's legendary reputation.

I think we'll see an increase in online programing where SD vs. HD doesn't seem to matter much. Hopefully some great insightful documentaries as well.
