I think he shoots 16X9 but adjusts to 2.35 in post (cropped for web, letteboxed for DVD)
This video was wider than 16X9.
You might be referring to old information from when he had DVX though, which cannot shoot 16X9 natively.

I regularly surf the B&H used section online. Once you find one you want, go in and try it then buy it. You can search on their website by brand, by type (wide, normal, tele), by speed, and sort by price.

Timur is a good person to ask for this area too. He knows the hole in the wall places.
