DVX Video w/ homemade 35mm

oh man, that singer had me laughing! He reminds me of a friend of mine.

anyways, to the video- My favorite parts were those up close shots of the singer with the hat on, and I liked the shot of the snare drum (had a little earthquake going on there) nice touch. I don't know if this counts, but I really liked the little opening thing you had with the titles and all. I think that part looked the most professional and kinda raised my expectations.

This has nothing to do with you, but for the recording- they might want to take it easy with the autotune (unless it's supposed to be intentional) . cheers, keep it up!

It was OK, better than most, but to give specifics:

The performance CUs were good.
The lighting was very flat and frontal, not very dramatic or dynamic.
I don't get the point of the narrative portion.
I actually was turned off by the titles. It took way too long to get to the video and it felt like you were trying too hard.
and as pointed out, it seemed like the lip-sync is off, although that may be due to internet encoding.

Sorry if I sound like a curmudgeon...

So what are the details of you home made 35 mm adaptor. Do you have images you can send me. I am intersted in finding out more info on this. The video is as good as many out there on MTV so don't worry about it. I like it and it is somehitng different.

Later.

Just to answer a few questions, first i appreciate the feedback. the beginning portion came about due to the fact that the band added the electronic intro after the fact we had already shot the video, so I didn't have enough footage to cover the whole intro that why I opted for the graphics. I also was having a little bit of a problem with the audio when I exported it, everythings spot on in my NLE but every export made it seemed to be off a little here or there.

And for you AngryMexican, the adapter is a friedn of mines. He owns his own company called Movie Groovy www.moviegroovy.com his name is CoCo, just contact him, i'm sure he'd be more than happy to share photos and info on how made it. He's a member of this site, I'm just not sure of his member name.

Thanks again everybody

congrats on using a DIY adapter. The shots look good. I'm trying to build one myself and it's become a real pain in the neck. I liked the movement in some of your shots. however, the lighting was flat. Key, back, fill. Also, try to spice up the locations a little bit. They seemed kind of plain and uninteresting. I liked the titles, but they were too long. On the whole, nicely done - with just a few little kinks.
