going along with the "earnings" poll, i think the "age factor" might have some affect on whether you are yet in a position to earn with your gear or not.

so again, just curious....what is the average age of a DVX user on this forum?

thanks

carl

i'm only 20, but i've been editing on FCP since i was a soph in highschool, so i was 15 or 14 than, so i think experience can overpower age..haha i say the stupidest ****

"Over 40" !?!?!

Sheesh.

There IS life after 40 you know. Well, you probably don't know, but you'll find out if you're lucky!

For the record, I am WELL past 40 at 55 -- and just got my DVX100B a month ago.

It's almost too bad, in a way, that you never had to use film, as you'd have a far better appreciation for the amazing tools which are now available to any film student.

That said, I am very glad that there is such a surge of young filmmakers with great tools available to them.

The democratization of filmmaking is one of the best things to happen since I graduated from NYU well before you were born.

sorry joe,

didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable with the age brackets..figured if i just put "over 40" that would say enough, so please, no offense meant. : >)

for the record, i'm close to 50.

42 years and counting. I am the ultimate answer to the ultimate question. I agree with Joe, its too bad that so many young people on this board have never shot on film, it really makes you appreciate what has come along in just the last couple of years. I still have all my old super8 gear and some of my old 16mm gear. I loving look after it but I know it won't see much action anymore.

dvxuser average age...where do you fall; help me i've fallen and i can't get up? i'm an actor, i don't act my age!

36 years and it just keeps getting better. When I was young and started in film, I got to shoot on actual film and had lots of energy...but no money. Today, I'm still chugging along and have a lot less energy.....the good news is that I have a lot more patience now and money to do what I want, within reason.

Odds are in favor that age is in my....uh...favor. :)

for a second i almost felt old at 26... thanks for the replys now i don't feel half as old as i am.. i may even go for a jog tommorow

LOL!! I love it!

I'm 19, and actually wish I had the opportunity to shoot on film...its just what film is, film. All the greatest films ever made were with film anyways.

Haha, no prob, Carl you young thing, you.

I actually wrote that a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I guess that doesn't always transfer to the written word!

As I said, the real deal for me is the way the democratization of filmmaking is taking off. I think it is an incredibly cool time to be a young filmmaker. And by young, I mean not dead yet! hehe
