I was kinda bored at home last night and started fooling around with my dvx100a. I am, as so many in here, in the fase of trying out 16:9 upres, figuring out if I shopuld get the anamorphic adapter or to get a 35mm adapter.

Well, anyway. This is shot in 4:3 (PAL), progressive. Then edited, upresed to 16:9 in AE with InstantHD, and color corrected with Magic Bullet suite.
Some of the shots are shot with a macro lens from Mercury optics, that also distorts the edges of some of them.

I haven't tried the Photozoom way of upresing. Started once then gave up.... it took a long time.

well, here is the link:

- It should start playing, in crappy quality and wrong aspect ratio, just click on "download file".

Btw. The sound, that is me playing the guitar. :)

You were right, Crappy quality on that website, but the download looks fantastic. I am thinking of getting instant HD. You think its worth the money?

It is faster than Photozoom in upresing to 16:9. I have only done one test from dvx to HD, I can't say how good that was, looked quite good on my computer screen, but I would need a HD television to evaluate it correctly. But actually I think it is worth it, does a fine job from 4:3 to 16:9, and is quite simple. Yes I think it is worth it.

The downloaded footage looks really good.

What settings did you use for Instant HD?

What settings for Magic Bullet?

Whoops, i ended up with just cropping the image in AE, instantHD is just set to DV pal res, whoops my bad.
- But these are the settings for Instant HD and Magic bullet...
