k, theres alot of people that want to see slow motion from the dvx. heres one sample that i did a while back. i actually had it even slower than this (about 4x slower than this and still looking good was as slow as i got it through various tools) . unfortunatey the slower versions were deleted :( . i just found this .wmv on another computer. sorry people with slow computers/graphics cards might not be able to play.

remove the x at end of filename after download.

...and if you crituiqe this you are not invited to my 7th birthday party .. and youll be sad cause its going to be at chuck-e-cheese's

I remember having to slow down scenes in a student film I was asked to edit. The director wanted it SOOOOO slow. We're talking a frame a second. So it looked like a series of still images. I didn't like it, and tried to convince him other wise... but in the end he wanted it that way.

But durring this process, as we slowed it down more and more, it didn't really take much slowing down to begin to see it looking like a series of still images. At the speed the DIRECTOR wanted, I could understand why it looked like it did, but with some of the other scenes I just didn't get it.

But he was shooting with a GL1 (or maybe it was a GL2). In any case, it wasn't shot in 24p, so I'm guessing 24p helps with slow motion shots?

What did you use to slow it down? I work in FCP and just used the slow motion filter that comes with it.

the best slo mo for the DVX is shot 60i and slowed down 40%. This is the slowest possible motion, but you utilize have of the resolution because the even and odd fields are separated to become full frames. So no. 24P does not work well when you slow it down.

at least I'm pretty sure this all correct.

Am I wrong....but I thought you could use the new version of Twixtor with your 24P footage and slow it down.....and it would still look very good? Is this not the case?

Supposedly they have re-wrote the engine and the program now is *better* than it was. I have seen a few examples on their website, but I haven't heard anyone on here talk about Twixtor in a LOOOOONG time!!

What kind of file extension is wmvx? I changed the link to wmv (think the x was a spelling mistake) but I was wrong :). Of course there is a 99% chance this could just be a stupid question but there's alway 1% chance it isn't wooo!!!

The additional x is so your browser will download it instead of play it. You then rename it on your machine and play it locally. :)

Neil, that thing was hella choppy! Then agian I am on a lap top made in the late 90's. 32 megs of ram baby! So does this mean I'm not invited to the chuck e cheese party? Shucks, I wanted some pizza., :(

Why isn't (or can't) slow motion just be done in post? genuinely curious.

Mainly, Shawn, because your NLE is making up frames that are not there. Generally, you want to get as much information from the camera as possible, otherwise your software is guessing and tweens frames that dramatically compromise the quality of your footage.

Man, that sounded convoluted. :undecided

How do you find Twixter? Is it a plug in for another program or what? Thanks!
