DVX Resolution Problem

So i edited my first little shoot from my DVX. I got some ok shots but the quality when blown up was super grainy. What settings do i need to set or export it as to make it really large so i can play it on a say 23 inch apple monitor without tons of quality loss. Im using FCP. Seriously if this is the quality im looking to upgrade to at least HDV. I see the super sharp stuff online and this is nothing close.

Let me know. Thanks so much guys!!

The screen size you speak of is no where near the size it would take to experience resolution loss with SD footage.

Sounds more like a settings issue. Make sure your cam settings are in check, i.e: Gain switches.

If your outputting to theatre size screens then I recommend HDV, but anything else is fine.

Output it in the native resolution of the DVX.

Blowing the footage up is not going to produce HD-quality images.

ok is there any other settings i need to check? Becuase ya i just exported it using current settings. I didnt use any compressor or anything. And i resized my quicktime window to fit my screen and it was really distroted. Quite a bummer...

Of course it's going to look like crap.

You are blowing up a 720x480 pixel image to a 1920x1200pixel image when you full screen on your mac monitor.

If you watch it on a TV (even an HD set) it is going to look worlds better then on your computer monitor.

Exactly. I can't believe it took three wrong answers to get here

Yes, settings and lighting setup have a MAJOR effect on picture quality, but you're logic is still way off...

my use for the scenerio is that i do wedding engagement videos and play them at the wedding using my laptop and monitor. So i need to be able to export or capture at a resolution that is going to be able to be at the 1920x1200 that the 23" is.

i guess i could export it to a tape or to a P2 when i go that route and bring a small flat screen in to watch it instead of my monitor...
