Prepping for HVX Film-Out Test

I've thankfully been given the chance to do a 35mm film out test with the HVX, and I'm trying to make a list of modes I want to shoot.

So far, I'm going to shoot both 720PN, and 1080i/24PA using just the raw camera lens. Then I'm going to shoot both of those modes a second time using my M2 adapter and my cheapo Nikkor lenses.

My question is...is the M2 adapter up to the challenge? Will I retain more resolution renting a PS Technik, or Movietube, and using some Cooke Primes or some sort?

Is there anything else I'm forgetting that I should do as well? I'll be sure to report back on the results.

where are you located - do you need help - I performed a film out test in NYC back in march so I can help you out if you need

If I were doing another film out test, I would have as many things to test out as possible. You can usually get 3 - 5 minutes for a decent price so I would certainly add a PS and/or Movietube as well. Real cinema glass is going to outperform SLR glass with the better adapters.

I have yet to see anything from a M2 that is going to hold up to this sort of application. Do test under varying lighting conditions as well as this will greatly effect the results.

Excellent! I'm looking forward to seeing your results! I've got the M2 adapter and I love the look it gives me. You've probably already seen the article already, but Adam Wilt in DV magazine goes over the settings he thinks give an optimal image on the HVX.

cheers!

Don't use your cheapo lenses. Get some real cine glass, better yet do a test of both and remember to post your findings.

I'm going to do my best to test as many adapters and lenses as possble, as well as my nikon's because i'm really curious how they will stack up to the big guys that cost 100 times more.
