okay, here's a trailer for a movie i haven't shot yet. i'm looking for constructive criticism on how to make the preview better. take note that these images are basically all I have, with the exception of a few others.

if you can refrain from ripping it apart and focus on helping me, that would be much appreciated!

I love it, and wouldn't change a thing. Seriously.

My question is this, though... why are you making a trailer for a film you haven't shot yet? what if you get into production, things change and you deviate from the original idea?

Well, I guess as long as the same principle is there, then that trailer would work just fine.

Watched it again, and noticed a couple SMALL things: two of the shots near the begining fade in and out a little faster than the rest. The first is where the guy looks at the fishbowl. The second is the next shot with the girl against the painted background wall. I didn't have enough time to take in the shot, and I really wanted to, dammit. With the overlaying text, the BEAUTIFUL shots in the background don't get the justice they deserve. Make those shot's last just a few seconds longer, and they'll have more of an impact.

This is one of the most intriguing trailers I've seen, and the theme fits perfectly for the kind of films I watch, and enjoy. I REALLY hope you can follow through with a film that live's up to the trailer, and I REALLY want to stay up to date as to how this is coming along. Do you have a website or anything I can track??

Remember the "Garden State" trailer? yeah, it was a work of art in itself. The feel and AWESOME cinematography of this trailer rivals it, in my opinion. Love it.

rc, thanks a bunch. yeah, the trailer is actually just a way to get more people interested in the production, including money people! think of it more as a teaser to make the movie, instead of a teaser to watch the movie. things probably will change. i'm not a D.P. and I shot this by myself. Just think of how those shots will look with a real D.P. behind the camera!

the best way to keep up to date with things is my myspace site, even though I don't have it posted yet. I'm considering recutting it because of some feedback from people I trust. Among their issues:

1) too many damn umbrellas
2) just a bunch of random quirky shots for random quirky's sake
3) it sounds like i just picked a song that i liked. it doesn't really have anything to do with the images.

i can't really do anything about the shots, since they're all i have. but i'm considering using another song.

i really loved some of the shots as well as the music. they really create a unique vibe and atmosphere.

the only problem i really have with it is that it doesn't show conflict. even though there is mention of some sort of problem in the titles, there really aren't any shots in it that don't scream "everything is OK or peaceful". don't get me wrong they look great, but without putting in some sort of conflict you don't give the audience much to worry about which is what, in essence, will make someone say "wow, i want to see what happens to that character, i want to see that" . this is something you should especially pay attention to if you plan on using this to raise funds, because drama is the first thing investors will look for. i'd say work on that and you've got one hell of a trailer.

That song actually made me like oasis. I agree with ajs. Seemed a little to sacrine. Although it was very beautfiul it just made me miss my ex gf, not make me want to see the movie.

well then it did something :)

i really enjoyed it too. This really comes down to what you were going for but i felt it was quite over exposed for the most part. Would be curiuos to see one with the blacks a little more crushed and the brighntess lowered, or gain, whichever.

very nice though,.

ajs, i completely agree. that's the first thing i noticed when I cut it together. it needs some drama. i don't think i have the necessary shots to convey that (i only shot the trailer) but i'm going to give it a shot.

papa. i agree. i was just watching it and it looks way overexposed. youtube brightened it up for me! I wanted it to be a *little* bright but not as bright as it turned out on youtube.

vampire - lol - i understand what you're saying.

liked it CG good choice of song went great with the images , ilikedi t alot i liked the part with the ballons in there leaning togher great image there , it be great if u can get the movie made and retain the emotion the trailer has. final though iliked it look like a great romantic movie it could be.

I hate to go against the grain here, but I didn't feel any emotion from this. Sure there are some beautiful images, and you have alot of good ideas, but to me it just looked like a bunch of random shots of a couple just hanging out. How about a hug or a kiss scene? I like the song and titles, I just think some more emotial shots need to be in there.

I for one, think you are ahead of the curve here. Given the fact that so many movies released today have ALL of the good parts in the trailers anyway, I think in the future, we will despense with the movies and ONLY make trailers. so forget making the movie. Just hang on to this and your time will come around.

:)

But to comment on it as a trailer, it didn't really say anything about a story. Try starting it out like this: "In a corrupt world...Bruce Willis is the one good cop left..."

:)

desperate, lol! unfortunately, that part's on the cutting room floor. and you're right. trailers are better than movies these days. why should I bother making a movie? i'm going to head over to universal tomorrow and see if they'll buy this.

cecil, a few people have told me the same thing and I can totally see your point of view. when i finished it, I said "Man, I wish I had shot more things actually *happening* so I can get more of the story in the trailer. But oh well, you live, you learn.

shots not all that clear imo. great , great story idea. the acting seems too contrived imo, too cleche. loved the intro.
