DVX: FPS and Audio Pitch

Hey Guys. i just recorded a video with my DVX and redrock gear.

For some reason, when i imported my footage from my FS-4HD the footage imported into premier at 19.18 FPS??? I have never encountered this problem before. Also, the interlacing is off and the footage gets me a little dizzy because of the interpolating? Any thoughts?

2. I recorded my audio using a RODE 2 microphone hooked up my XLR. (I also recorded audio using a lapel a few months ago and had the same problem) I was plugged into channel 2. But after importing and listening to my audio, I get this High Pitch sound. I took the audio in Audition and it sits around 8 10 12.5 and 16k. The problem is that when i start removing these i loose some of the voice. The thing is, with such a camera why am i even getting this high pith sound. Thanks for any help you can give. Cheers

That makes no sense, it cant be the camera. Your footage might not be properly imported. Try some different settings.

The high pitch sound might be because something was close to your mic while recording, cellphone, other electronics. That could cause a high pitched noise.

For the audio issue, you can maybe use the spectral display to isolate a more exact frequency without losing the whole range.

The 19.18FPS sounds like a pulldown issue. What frame rate were you shooting at? The audio problem will probably solve itself when you resolve the frame rate issue.

i recorded at 24p using my firestore. Austinv, i know that it doesnt make any sense. It is strange, I did use my firestore and record to tape at the same time. when i capture the footage from the tape, it has a frame rate of 23.976. thats why i dont know why it would be different using the firestore unless i am doing something wrong. i had the setting set to avi 24fps on the firestore. i was trying to compare the footage, and it does look the same. i mean, that even though it says 19.18 and the footage from dv tape says 23.976, they pretty much look identical... any other thoughts.

Jim, how can i do the spectral display in audtion. Dory, its not the fps and audio problem because like i said, i had this issue before at other fps. maybe i shouldnt have phantom power on or something. or change the setting in the front of the camera. maybe my m2 adapter is causing the noise. either way, its strange.

ill try to post a few seconds of each clip so you guys can compare the fps and let me know what you think. cheers

i think i just figured this out but it doesnt seem right, in premiere i unclicked the box that says remove 24p pulldown and the footage changed to 23.976. when i compare it to the footage captured from tape it has a frame rate of 23.976 with the remove 24p pulldown checked.

any thoughts?

Sounds like the maybe the Firestore recorded only native frames, whereas tape, of course, added the required pulldown.
