hi am shooting a hip hop music this week. i was thinking of using the dvx100b. my shots are mostly slow motion for the video. i wanted to know what frame i should shoot on 24p,30p. and i cant find 60i in the camera can somebody explain that. i mostly shoot on hvx. but i have trouble renting. here a video my production team shot with hvx. and do u thinking shooting in slow motion on dvx will come out as smooth as the video i shot with the hvx.

if ur shooting 24p and want slow mo....shoot in 60i and put that on a 24ptimeline and slow it down to 40% for the smoothest slow mo. Go into menu>> scenefile>> and where u chooose the shooting framerate select "OFF" for 60i.

Darren.

60i is the same thing as turning progressive "off" and shooting standard 29.97 video.

Shoot 60i for 24p slow-mo, but there are better ways to conform the 60i footage to 24p slow-mo. Google it. Handy tutorials abound, and it requires some creative use of Compressor.

Would you do a 23.974 timebase or an actual 24 fps timebase?

Also, he means that in your editor, you need to set what's known as the editing timebase or basically what the computer thinks your footage's frame rate is. Normally, 60i, 30p and 24p normal would all go into a 29.97 fps timeline, and 24p advanced would go into a 23.974 fps timeline. What editor are you using? As far as I know, FCP, PP, Vegas and Edius can all change the timeline.

Hey Andy...I'm really speaking about a 23.976 timeline...but I just say 24p timeline.
