I use a KATA HB 205 backpack. It is extremly well padded, convenient and comfortable with padded shoulder straps and a padded handle on top. It also comes with a tripod holder for the side. It's available at B&H for about $225.00

I use the PortaBrace BK-1N. The only drawback is that the mic mount must be detached to case the camera. But it holds the camera, a laptop, all the accessories, and has a tripod holster on the side.

can the kata 205 hold a laptop?

It is not built to hold one.

The PortaBrace BK-1N has an outer compartment made for laptops. I really enjoy it. For the lighter stuff (think backpack journalism) I can carry everything I need to write, shoot, and edit in the field. Though, I do have other stuff that packs in a Pelican 1650 for the more complex setups (Glidecam, audio package).

The other catch, and this goes for any brand of backpack like this, is that the tripod holster can't hold the bigger, sturdier sticks. I did have to buy a smaller set to travel, and I pack my other tripod separately. But I still have enough to make a pretty nifty product. My backpack has made its way through Washington, D.C., as well as San Antonio, and has not let me down.
