dvx bayo popped off

background info: skateboard hit camera and the front part popped off.

i need some opinions on what method would be best to re-secure the focus ring and the bayo to the front end of my dvx.

the reason i ask is because the front mount isn't sturdy enough anymore to hold a lens. if only the focus ring wasn't located behind the bayo then i'd super glue it..

anyways, any ideas folks?

My Front broke off once, it was because it was also hit by a skateboard. Where did yours break? You can replace the front rings where the focus gear ring is mounted on, this is just a plastic ring with the bayo on it. If you remove the screws of the front plate in front of the lens, you'll see 4 screws, and if you remove these, you can remove the front of your camera with the focus gear ring. Be careful though!!! The gear ring sensor is still attached to an internal circuitboard inside your camera. But you can take this sensor off with two small screws.

You should read a service manual before you take apart your cam. Here are some schematics of all the parts (casing and internals).

Good Luck!

thanks! i'll let you know how it turns out. if worse comes to worse though and i'm unable to re-secure it with screws, would you suggest gluing it back? i just wouldn't want to damage the lens (fog it up) or lock the focus ring in place.

damn, it may just be time to retire this dvx to the roll of "b cam"..

here's a couple

Wow, seems like it broke off from the lens barrel, that holds the bayo and focus ring with just 4 screws from the front.
Are the screws still on the lens barrel, or did the plastic sockets in which you screw the 4 screws broke off from the lens barrel?
If it's only the platsic ring in between the barrel and the focus ring, it's an easy fix, try to order the plastic ring (which has bayo mount on it).
If it's the lens barrel from wich the whole front broke off, you'll be looking for an expensive repair (or you trust yourself glue-ing it together).

Sending it for repair is also a good idea...

took your initial advice and performed camera surgery just now. the schematics helped a ton. what i did was take apart the front mount until the ring just before the zoom ring and reattached the bayomount piece to that. also added a drop of super glue on each screw (connecting the bayomount to the fix ring) upon re-screwing for added security. currently waiting for the glue to dry 100% while rotating the focus ring to assure nothing is stuck. thanks a lot man

edit: success!
