Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

:D

Of course I had to to tun it into a major production; :P

Next up is an actual short using glidecam and dolly and some crazy demented horror non-sense.

If I only has someone to actually do dolly grip >:( :D

" Next up is an actual short using glidecam and dolly and some crazy demented horror non-sense."

Are you going to use the bathroom scene from your first shots with the dolly? That would be a freaky setting for a horror scene.

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

Looks groovy John. When I see your yard I want to cry! It's warm here by Canadian standards (around 40F) but I have no lush green topical plants that's for sure! What's the deal with all the boxes? Are you the real Santa and we just got a peek into "the workshop"? ;) (I've been good!)

This will come in ultra handy for your horror flick! 8)

One question: The dolly looks heavy as hell with the double plywood and when you add the operator it must have some serious pressure on the tracks. Are you getting and unpleasant noise from this? I was thinking of using 2" pipe but if the 1 1/4 works, even better. Less space to haul around. Just curious as to vibration and noise.

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

John, I can't view the video, but I'm sure it looks great. :) Any chance you can post some stills of your dolly setup?

It's Christmas here, so Merry Christmas everyone.

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

HI Dakota

No noise even with operator on the on the board. The plastic PVC is strong and it is the thick gauage (inner diameter is thick). They attract all kinds of dust and crap from static electricity I think so I wipe them down with a dry rag before running it.

It's not that heavy (30 to 45 LBS) easy to pick up and move and no noise or squeaks to report!

All of the moxes you saw are DVX100's I am routing for Sanata; I've been foiled! "You have been good!" That's not what the elves told me!

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

F**K the elves! - I want my gifts!

I guess the better the wheels is important too for noise reduction

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

Good point. I wonder if that contributes? They are 'Medium' and not at all 'rubbery soft' and not 'glossy'. I just figured out how to render out 'Letterboxed' within Quicktime (Using the Crop in Sorenson) so now I'm uploading a version that plays wide minus the bars! :D

Soresnon is rockin'

Excellent compression quality too. I love Sorenson

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

Hey John has there been any talk of your or your builder selling these dollies or putting comprhensive plans up?

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

Of course! Scott will build one for you for $300.00 over parts and shipping (That is fair as it takes time to get the parts and spend the time building and shipping?). Any newer version will be of even higher quality than this one!

If anyone wants comprehensive plans, I am sure we can get those to you if you just want to build it yourself; I am one that would'nt want to do it myself!

Re: DVX and Dolly Extra

John, you wanted a dolly grip? I may be able to help you out if you help me out on my next short. Im in Irvine

Hi Mino!

I have a set (2) of 1 1/4 PVC pipe that is 10'. The trucks keep them aligned. I am already planning to get a minimum of 40' of track. Each 10' length is roughly $4.00. I will be connecting using dowells.
