its an mp4 QT6 file.

for some reason the mp4 extension doesn't work with my browser ... so I changed it to .mov

I'll put up two versions with different extentions... one for downloading and one for web viewing..see if that helps...

AWESOME!!!!!
GREAT job visually, can't fault it, and superb editing: you pulled off a very difficult to do scene almost perfectly!

The one area that I thought was a little lagging was the audio. The music didn't really add to the thrill IMO, and the noises, groans and moans emanating from the fighters sounded very tinny, as in a hall. It was a hall, but it should sound much fuller, if you will.
And the end dialog is almost inaudible. Tell me that wasn't recorded with the on-cam mic? ;-)
This would be a great example of a scene that could benefit from redoing the audio completely.

But like I mentioned, the visuals were very cool; some better lighting would of made it perfect.

That kicked butt. I'd throw in a couple more super tight punching and kicking close ups, the ones where you can't tell what's really going on, and then tighten up the audio as vidled said, and it'll really rock. It looks great though, good job.

Excellent job. You did great! Bravo!

(Next time watch the two shots; you have to 'hide' the blows)....

Can't wait for your nest one!

Looks good man. Only thing you might want to try is speeding up the blows in your NLE or after effects. Maybe 10-15 percent faster would give it a little more pop.

Vidled,
Thanks for the compliments about the editing, I totally agree with you about the audio. Unfortunately, we did record the end dialogue with the camera mic!! haha. BUT, there is a story as to why ...
The film was actually done in six days. Story, choreography, locations, script (or lack thereof) was conceived, shot edited, mixed and scored within 6 days. It was for a film competition called the Mighty Asian Movie Making Marathon. What happened was that we had a shotgun, with a zepplin and everything plugged in and ready to go ... unfortunately it wasn't working right and we did get a single sound outta it! We were shooting so fast, we never noticed, but when we got into editing we were fairly dissapointed with that news. But with only 48 hours to finish the project we had other things to take care of, rather than asking the actors to come back into ADR.

Isaac,
We tried speeding it up a bit in post. We did it to a couple clips that really needed it, but I didn't really like the look, so I tried to refrain from doing it too often. Now that you mention that, what would of been good would of been to extract the 24 frames from the 24pa footage, and conform that to a 30 fps file, speeding it up 20%. .... now that I think of that again, we didn't shoot in 24p advance, so we couldn't have done that anyways ... it's a thought for next time tho!

John,
Thanks! Are you talking about two shots in particular? Or are you referring to two of the angles?
My nest one? My next one you mean?? ..hehe...my next one you'll see if the zombie flick. ;)

It looked pretty good! My only critiscm is that the star seems to be on the "heavy" side and the parts where he does those fantastical shots don't seem to be him doing them. His kicks look slow. Maybe you could put in those really tight shots to kindof cover that up.

Anyhow, Great job!

that's really cool! i would have to agree that the sound is the weak spot, especially when the girl kicks the 3 ladies. other than that it was sweet.

This video made me laugh so hard because the premise was crazy but it was REALLY well done. Ill agree with the others in saying the sound was a little off but other than that it was done really well. Its especially impresive that u made something like this entertaining given the location and actors you had.

Mastertee ...
which fantastic shots are you referring to? It's interesting how you say it doesn't seem to be him doing them, cause it's all him all the time! Even the end flying cyclone kick.

I'm saying that because, you can clearly see the actors face when he lifts each leg to kick each of his adversaries around the 35 second mark (His kicks look weak and hard to lift his legs... a little too slow) But in other parts the stunts are really fast and well paced but you can't really see the actors face... that's why I made that assumption. Please don't take offense, I'm just trying to give constructive critism. I actually thaught it was really well done, good job!

I was able to watch the mp4 file. Nice to see a action flick every now and then, good work. My fav part when the master bad guy delivers a palm shot that sends him flying back. The action is a bit slow, i don't know if it would look faster if u set the shutter speed higher. regardless, there is alot of hard work put into this one, can't wait to see the next one!

Very good work for your first time. A quick list of constructive criticism for next time...

-Most of the kicks in the first few sequences seem to be pretty slow, like he's just focusing on remembering the moves of the choreography or afraid of hurting the other guy, not like he's really trying to fight those two. If you must stick with the same actors with the same reluctance of attacking, I recommend putting some pads underneath the other guys to help alleviate this fear.
-Around 50sec., the bad guy coming in starts attacking, then waits for the hero to get ready, then finishes his attack, seems like a timing issue
-On the second shot of the 360 kick, it looks like his target was a good few feet before the guy's head/the kick was angled a significant amount towards the camera instead of towards the bad guy. The bad guy also reacted too soon.
-The wall run was pretty slow, for my personal preference, to the point of detracting from the pacing of the fight.

I don't want to get too nitpicky, it already sounds like I thought you did a bad job, which certainly is not the case. Again, excellent work, the effort put into this shows and it looks like you've got a talented group together. You can bet I'm looking forward to seeing your next project.

Respectfully,
Michael Johnson

Mastertee,

No offense taken! I was just curious as to what shots you were referring to.

As to everyone's comments about it being a little slow ... I agree. ;) This was a 6 day competition, and the actors had to learn their choreography and in a manner where the kicks looked real (enough) and we were in no danger of hurting the actors.

We didn't really have the time to plan out each shot, and to determine what sort of angle would sell the attack the best, we kinda just had the choreography, and I just turned on the camera and started getting shots.

Ironically, the two poorest looking kicks (the ones talked about) were actually the only ones where the actors actually got kicked, and semi beaten up. haha. They actually got kicked there and it looked the worst. ....oohh well!

Thanks for all the feedback, it's good to know what to focus more on next time. ;)
