I am going to do a shoot under stadium lights with a rented P2.
It will be primarily a low light shooting situation I believe I should
shoot at 720p and when the cards are full download them to my powerbook
g4. the problem is I have no AC. Can I shoot straight to a battery operated
pocket drive. We will be moving around alot on location. Can anyone give me some tips into what worked for you on location with no AC outlets. The rental comes with
4 4 gig cards

You can't record directly to a pocket drive, but the HVX200 can control a Firewire drive and dump P2 card contents to it. Unfortunately you will have to stop shooting while it is transferring.

Copying P2 contents to your Powerbook should be faster than realtime if you have a PCMCIA slot, and since you can hot-swap P2 cards, you can keep shooting without interruption if you take this approach. Your Powerbook could hibernate while you aren't copying from the cards, so not having AC should not be a problem unless the battery in the laptop is shot.

Hello. Your post title confuses me, but I think I understand. You are a dvx100b user who is now using a rented HVX? Anyway, you want to dump to location computer but you have no ac? Are you saying assistant camera position? I am not sure I understand what the problem is. The mention of a battery suggests to me you mean power (alternating current). Please write back and clarify :)

Although THoff answered the question nicely.

Yes I am talking about AC electrical current.
I am also having problems downloading the software to read
the p2 cards form panasonic
