dvx-100 wont connect to g5

hey all. Just found this forum, and so glad I did. I have a DVX-100A and I connect the camera to my g5 via firewire but it wont let me import into FCP. What could be wrong, ive tried everything.

This is the HVX200 forum, not the DVX100.
