Hi,

Newbie here. I'm in the market for a used DVX100 and have a line on a 100, a 100a and a 100b. prices range a bit, but I'm interested what the main differences are. Would I be missing key features if I went with the DVX 100? The best price right now is on a 100a.

so, what are the key differences?

It's been a while since I've shot with a DVX since I switched to a Canon A1 about a year ago. I did own a DVX100 (original model) for nearly 4 years. As far as I know, the 100a had the most upgrades compared to the original 100. While the 100b had some nice upgrades, it is not substantially different than the 100a. If the 100a is the best price used I would go for that if I were you.

There shouldn't be anything major that you would miss from the 100b. The link below is to an article from this forum that was written around the time the 100b was released.

DVX-100A Flip

Hey,

I bought a used 100A rather than a B primarily because the LCD image can easily be flipped upside-down using a magnet. You cannot do this with the B and I'm guessing it can be done with the 100 as well.

In case you don't know, when using an unflipped 35MM adapter, the image is upside-down in the LCD, so you need to flip it to compose your shots. I use a DIY adapter and love the magnet trick!!!

What's an unflipped 35MM adapter? DIY as in Do It Yourself? What are you adapting?
Cool trick with the magnet though. Do you just stick it onto the LCD?
