Re:  DVRig PRo Review

Chuck--you can remove the handgrips--I remember from an earlier post.

Magicd--The group discount is $550 with shipping which includes the normally optional case and wireless receiver mount. I think the price is in line with other rigs considering what it does. Almost every other shoulder rig cantilevers the weight of the camera on your extended arm--so you're going to fatigue from supporting that weight for more than a short time. The DVRig Pro balances the weight on your shoulder and allows the camera to be held steady for extended periods. I'm getting mine for doc work, but I think it would be great for events where you don't want to be locked down on a tripod.

Another 1st time poster here, just found this place while looking for DVRig info. Getting my DVX next week!
How do we take advantage of this $550 including case offer?

thanks

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

Yeah, is that the 10 or more orders Danny was talking about earlier?

Also, is it fair to describe the image stability as near-tripod qualiy?

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

Yes, it was the 10 unit deal that people were posting about. I'm not sure if there are any more units left in the DVXUser order, but you should email Danny directly at: natovich@inter.net.il if you're interested. Near tripod quality? I don't think any rig can duplicate the effect of a locked down cam, but if the DVRig is balanced well you should be able to get very steady shots. My experience is that the final result from a stedicam type rig is 1/3 rig and 2/3 operator.

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

Woohoo! My DVRig Pro just arrived and it looks great. It looks like there have been some incremental improvements since Jarred did his great review. Thanks for the fast shipping, Danny. I'll test it tonight and let you know what I think of the stability.

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

I'll look forward to that Barry. Tripod is not likely to be the best point of reference (in theory, zero instability). But compared to shoulder mount cameras or the shoulder based stabilizers - that's the point of comparison. I can get a shoulder based stabilizer for the DVX for $100-$150. Is it the law of diminishing returns? That's what I'd like to know.

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

Depending on how low the offer is that Danny referred to, count me in as well. So what's the score now?

Re:  DVRig PRo Review

ok, i went thru 8 pages and find conflicting answers.  i see the 357:

http://db.manfrotto.com/product/templates/templates.php3?sectionid=100&itemid=318

and the 577:

http://www.bogenimaging.us/product/templates/itemalone.php3?itemid=2605

which is the correct one to use w/ the dvrigpro and tripod use?...or are either ok?

last question...does the standard dvrigpro package come w/ a quick release plate(the part that attaches to the camera) and a shoulder strap?

thanks for clearing things up.

>>>>> Get another 357 asambly. You will get a base and a camera plate. Take the base and screw it on top of the 577 Camera plate you got with your 501 head. Now you have simmilar bases on your 501 head and the DvRigPro.
