DVD trailer

nice edits... it looks like it was shot on a much more expensive camera than a dvx100! did you edit this or just shoot it?

dude wtf thats totally not cool.

Those animals were obviously scared/hurt by what you were doing. That's not right. Especially that bear...like wtf, seriously, you don't need to kill innocent animals. You can just buy meat at the supermarket.

blackdogs377,
It's cool if you don't like hunting. I can respect the fact that you don't. It's too bad you can't respect the fact that some of us like to hunt.

pronghorn,
You have some good footage, the editing is good, but in my opinion the titles just don't have a real professional look.

Thanks for your opinion Alasken.......I tend to stray towards the less hollywood look in my work.

Blackdogs, sure you can buy your processed meat from the store, but where do you suppose that meat comes from? An animal had to die to give you or I that meat and in alot of cases you never know what drugs were given to the animal or what kinds of chemicals it may have ingested, not to say all meat is tainted just you never know..........Eating wild animals on the other hand is the purest, safest form of protien you can get, were the animals in pain? I really don't think so, if they were none were in pain for more than 30 secs. before they expired, most animals I have bowshot have run a short ways and looked around like they never knew what happened, just before they tipped over and gave it up.
Killing for sustenance has been a way of life since the dawn of man, why it is such a problem for some I have no idea.............But back on track, I did not post this to start a debate on hunting vs. non-hunting, I am looking for input from other members here that may give me some constructive critisism, so if you have a problem with hunting do not view this trailer.

Prog, do have a non-facebook version posted anywhere? Some of us Luddites haven't yet jumped on the Zuckerberg bandwagon.

Here's the recipe for vimeo I've been using pronghorn. I use FCP and can't remember what you use. Mine is 23.98 fps, but use the same settings for 29.97
Export H.264 video (key frame every 24 for 23.98), AAC audio. I set the bit rate at 5000 kbits/sec.
I did an upload test last night using the same footage from my dvx in squeeze mode. The first one I exported at the original size, and I tried one at 1280x720 (vimeo HD)
Linkage: http://vimeo.com/3180946
Turnagain Arm HD is the same clip, but bigger size.

poor animals. =(

Maybe you should put a disclaimer saying that your trailer contains animals getting murdered or just dont show those parts.

I'm sorry , but what's with all the tree huggers on here? Do you all live in lala land and eat only tofu?
Hunting is not murder my friend, it feeds my family, there is nothing better than fresh venison, you should try it sometime.

No wonder our country is falling apart, it would seem no one lives in the real world.........

i just don't like to see it happen. I realize that it happens and it's important in today's society, but it's really hard to watch an animal get shot.

You honestly eat bear meat?

that was poo pooed up, I can understand hunting to feed your family, it's practical if you live in the right place but why film it?

I think the compositions could have been improved throughout and the colors looked pretty vibrant throughout and gave a good nature feel like you were trying to i would imagine.

That looks like a blast to shoot!

My 2 cents:

- Straighten out that first shot (or find one that isn't canted)
- Work on the titling/text. It is a little all over the place.
- I'm sure this is like porn for your target demographic, but it gets a little repetitive a little after the 1 min mark.
- Try to find some really exciting/ beautiful shot for the ending and pick up the pacing for the second half.
- Go get some awesome scenery/location shots. The action is cool, but you need something visually stunning.
- Try to shave 30 seconds of the video.
- Only use one blooper and put it at the very end.
- Keep more nat sound, especially when people are talking on screen and we can't hear them.
- Tone down or remove the "breathing" text at the very end.
- Throw in some more close-ups of guns/fishing poles/bow and arrows etc.
- The whole video feels a little unorganized. Try to separate the video into sections like "Bear Hunting", "Deer Hunting", "Fishing" or keep the locations together or have the size of the kill start from a (comically?) small fish working your way up to a grizzly (or the largest kill you've gotten on tape)
- Do you have any customer/magazine/online reviews?
- More shots of hunters standing over or holding their kills?
- The music is a little repetitive.
- Get some cool shots of the guns being loaded.

Ultimately this was a pretty cool video.

I didn't notice anything terribly graphic, and this is a HUNTING video they're not just going out there to play tag with the bears (though that might be an interesting video). The animals getting "murdered" is an important part of hunting (the part that makes it a hunt and not a nature walk). I'm sure this video is far, less disturbing than a video about your local cattle "processing" plant or even the evening news.

Amen.

I think a lot of people would like to think the food they eat is somehow born in the plastic wrap they buy it in.. I don't think hunting is cruel at all. (Unless it's an endangered species or something, or if the hunter is just killing the animal for no reason). If it was that cruel there wouldn't be such thing as hunting seasons for different animals, it also helps keep the animal populations in check so that certain animals don't overpopulate, and run out/wipe out other species. But lets not turn this into a debate lol. I just couldn't help but put in my 2 cents...
