howdy.
i'm trying to burn a dvd using dvdsp from a .mov file.
the audio is working fine but the video plays about 7 min. in then resets to the beginning and keeps going. it's a 24 min piece and i've not had problems with dvdsp before.
the mov plays fine but when i run simulate it splits it up.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

First thing to do when any FCS application starts acting wonky is to trash the prefs. Quit DVDSP. Go to your user account>Library>Preferences and look for a .plist file with DVDSP in the label. Drag it to the trash and then relaunch DVDSP.

Also, have you used Compressor to convert to the proper files for your DVDSP project?

Does the movie file match the length of the audio in file when you view it in its track in DVD SP at 24 minutes.

ok, so this is weird.
if i drag the time line it behaves the same way, restarts video at 6:40 sec.
if i click on different points on the timeline, the image is fine, right where it should be, but as soon as i hit play, it goes back out of sink by 6:40 sec.

sure does. and there's no break in the video time line, no chapter markers and i went back over the original footage in fcp and no markers there either
the video plays until the audio ends so it's 24min as well, just 6 min 40 seconds off.:badputer:

just checked the general info on the clip and audio is 24 min while video says 31 min.
in the timeline both audio and video end at 24 min and it doesn't play past 24 min.
what am i missing here.

Try exporting the original from FCP as a self-contained ProRes or uncompressed file. Then load that into Compressor and apply your MPEG2/AC3 preset.

had a friend stop by who skipped compressor and took a .mov file straight from fcp to dvdsp and it worked fine...go figure.
thanks for the suggestions.

The dvdsp mpeg2 compression is WAY inferior to Compressor's. You should try one through compressor 1st and see the difference.

I kinda think it uses the same engine.

However, Compressor controls are more extensive, and support dolby2/ac3 audio encodes.

so i tried to run it through comprssor first and it won't import into dvdsp.
i get the error code...incompatible assets.
i selected mpeg2 compression for dvd and it took about 2.5 hrs to compress, said successful but won't import in. tried drag and drp, tried the import button but no luck.
scratchin my head.

What are the exact video attributes of the clip you tried to encode?

Pixel aspect size, frame rate, and of course which codec?

In DVD SP, did you set the preferences for SD DVD?
