Working out a workflow in my head:

Shoot with 2 16gig P2Cards dump to laptop using external drive
250gigs "Seagate field"

Copy entire project folder to (main editing drive)
750gigs Seagate edits"

Then copy 250 "Seagate field" to 2nd 750 "Seagate hub" in closet,

I am guessing 16gigs card 720PN= 40mins and an hour is about 25-30gigs

So I can copy my 16gig cards to a 250 a few times well. If I am wrong please correct me.

In the field we dump our .mxf files to our laptop and usually to a Seagate 500gig BU drive as well. That PA then opens SpeedEDIT and makes sure audio and video are fine. We have only had one time that the card's files were corrupt but since we started sliding the protect tab before inserting the card we've been 100% OK.

When we get back we dump from the BU drive to our edit system. That gives us a permanent BU. I love those 500gig Seagate drives. But be careful. I've heard stories about the "Pro" versions having power supply problems after only a few weeks. All mine have been fine. Knock on wood! :)

Thanks for the info... By the way you are saying when you slide the tabs from protected to read and then put them back in the camera they work seamlessly?

Yup, we started moving the tab to write protect when we pull from camera. After dumping the files we move the tab back before putting it in the camera.

"I think" that when you insert the card into a computer, the computer "might" send data to the card, (verification or identifying it) that "could" corrupt the data.
DON'T quote me on this as I'm just guessing. :)
But since we've started doing this we've never had a corrupt card. FWIW, we only had one corrupt card out of dozens of transfers before doing the protect tab engage process.
