DVCPro50 Output

If we shoot DVCPRO50, then the only output I can determine is possible with camera alone is converting to DVD.

Because the HVX200 will not record 50 to tape, it's either DVD or transcoding to a codec consistent with your available decks.

Is there another workflow?

Well, there are DV50 decks and DV50 editing programs; DVCPRO50 has been available for many years. If you want to deliver a DV50 program on DV50 tape you can do that... or dub to DigiBeta, for example.

I get it that if I shoot in DVCPRO50, I can output to SD to DVD, or (very expensive) DV50 VCR or Digibeta.
But how do I (cheaply, if possible) monitor the DVCPRO50 on a SD NTSC monitor out of FCP on G5? With DV, I can go from Computer via Firewire to DV Camera and out the camera's Component or S-Video to monitor. I doubt the DVCPRO50 will pass thru that.

I believe he's looking for a an external monitor through the firewire, in which you need a DVCPRO50 deck. If you have no need to record to tape, get a decklink/kona card or MXO.
