DVCPro HD Decoder - 720/25PN - Audio Issue - Ideas - Workaround?

I am using DVCpro HD Decoder to convert 720/25PN 25fps MXF footage to AVI. I have installed the DVCpro HD Deocder patch (to fix PN issues). Serious Magic say "Note: Variable Frame Rate Clips in the Native modes will not have audio."

1) Am I correct in thinking that converting 720/25PN 25fps clips should output audio? I have also tried DEFAULT frame mode, still no audio.

2)I have also tried 720/25P and 720/50P, all convert but with no audio. I have tried dragging XML files or MXF direct into DVCpro HD Decoder. Still no audio.

I don't have any budget to purchase Aspect HD or Raylight at the moment.

Am I missing something?

One workaround I have been testing is, 720/25PN footage, converted to AVI using DVCpro HD Decoder. Then converting Audio MXF files to WAV using Raylight Raymaker.

I end up with a video AVI and 2 x L/R Mono Wav audio tracks.. But, its a real pain.

3) Am I missing something?

Please help me! :-(

Thanks

EDIT: I've just noticed that the clip produced from the 720/25PN XML file, won't play any audio or play correctly using Windows Media Player, but when its loaded into Premiere Pro it plays fine and with audio. Hooray!
Windows Media Player says that a codec is missing. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Yes 720/25pN clips (that have been shot at 25fps) should have audio. Use any frame rate other than 25fps and you'll get no audio, but at 25fps they should have audio.
