Hello all!

Was just hired to shoot p2 stuff that will end up on one of these colossal projection screens. Only problem is that there software only likes windows media files. We are doing some tests and coming from my mac nothing wants to compress in sorenson squeeze. I have looked into flip for mac but they are pc only and need to be able to o the compressions themselves. it is also vital that when they do the compressions to wmv that they maintain the resolution of the original dvcpro hd 1080

thanks in advance!!!

Well many editing systems on the PC side can load in the MXF file format that the P2 cameras shoot. It just depends whether you're expected to deliver raw footage or completed edits. If it's the latter I'd go with QuickTime .MOV files in H.264 at 720p. As long as the Windows PC that is playing them has the current version of Windows and QuickTime it should be able to play it back. You can test that here:

You could then open and recompress to Windows Media on the PC side if that's still needed.

You could also use Bootcamp to run Windows Media Encoder or another Windows-based encoding tool.
