Hello,
I am going to try to explain my issue the best that I can. I am shooting a television show and we are using an HPX170 as camera A and shooting in 1080i/24PA and camera B is a Canon 7d shooting in 1920x1080 h.264. We then take the raw footage from both and convert the footage into a ProRes 422 codec using mpeg streamclip. Problem here is that we are working in a 1920x1080 Prores 422 timeline in FCP. The dvcpro footage even after conversion is in a 1280x1080 frame size. So I have to upscale to fit in the timeline. After I edit the show and then clean it up to use Apple color and/or DaVinci Resolve color program the dvcpro footage does not show up in the color timeline properly (greenscreen).
We are also using user submitted footage that is sometimes prores 422HQ and some other codecs. My question is: Should I use the media manager to convert all the clips in the timeline that is 1920x1080 ProRes 422 codec and will this effect the DVCPRO Footage which is already in that codec but with a frame size of 1280x1080. This footage NEEDS to be color graded and some color correction on the user submitted footage.
I hope this explains my issue. Editing in FCP is not the main issue here it is getting it into apple color. I have heard horror stories about using media manager especially if one (me) has not used it to much and is not to familiar with it. I would hate to reconvert hundreds of gigs of DVCPRO footage in MPEG streamclip if I don't have to.
Thanks and I hope someone can help out here.
Sean Shea
