Dust in the stock lens?

I just noticed what appears to be a speck of dust in the 14-140 stock lens. It is not apparent until stopped down to F13 or further. It is on the left side of the image, about halfway from the bottom, and moves slightly inward as the zoom is extended. I've cleaned both the filter, and the front and back elements thoroughly, and have come to the conclusion it is inside the body of the lens itself. Has anyone else seen this?

It's not weather sealed, AFAIK, so dust wouldn't be surprising. I've got lenses with all sorts of crap in them. Dust...mold...spider webs...

The bigger problem with M-4/3 IMHO is the fact the sensor is just hanging out there in the open...right up close to the flange. Within a couple of weeks of owning my GH1, it had a big splat of goop on the sensor....and it ain't "shaking" off. ;)

Forgive me if you already know this, but try changing lenses with the camera body facing downward to minimize any goop from getting on the sensor.

Cheers,

Thanks for all the replies, the information was very helpful. As it turns out, it was simply dust on the sensor, not in the lens. Phew! After a cleaning at the local camera shop, it's good as new. Thanks for the advice, Simon, about keeping the camera facing down when changing lenses. Hopefully that will help prevent this issue.
