C100: dumb question. outputing C100 SDI signal (converting from HDMI) through BNC to TV

Dont ask me why Im not using HDMI directly to a TV

So, here is the thing I have encountered

I was shooting a reception and the clients want me to outputing my signal from C100 to the projectors, the only connection they have is a long BNC cable.

this cable is built into the stage, and is my only connection option.

So, I have borrowed a Atomos H2S connect from my friend, converting my HDMI to SDI signal which obviously uses a BNC connector

But When I connect everything, nothing shows up ! if I connect the cable to Atomos Blade, it works, not that ancient Stage. Why ?

is it the analog vs digital thing? but their projectors looks like $200 thing from bestbuy, therefore it shouldnt be that ancient.

and the fun part begins, I bought a mini (rca) to rca ( use that yellow rca connector), then phono to bnc connector, using the mini jack in front of my camera, and it Fxxxing works.

why ?

and Im getting more experimental, I bought a bnc to coax (tradition TV cable connection) adapter, connecting it directly from h2s to TV, does not work.

I need some wikipedia here.

HDSDI ? component SDI ? WTH ?

If it is a normal POS corporate projector, the "BNC" cable is composite (analog), not SDI (digital).

Just because they use the same connectors doesn't mean the cable carry the same signal.

So if I output my HDMI signal through HDMI to Analog (composite) converter, whats the maximum resolution I get? 480i ?

or best way to output a high quality Analog signal on budget from a C100?

If you check on the front of the C100 - looking at the lens, check bottom left corner of the body. There's an 'AV Out' socket behind the cover.

You'll need one of those 3.5mm jack to 'Yellow/Red/White' RCA phono plugs (was there one in the box? Can't remember) and an RCA Phono to BNC adaptor (Radio Shack, Tandy, Maplin, RS Components, Ebay - buy lots of these, and BNC Barrels, and Phono barrels, and bury them in your kit bag for emergency use).

Should be good to go for easy Composite output. Also, check out page 113 of the manual for checking 16:9 to 4:3 settings (crop, letterbox or squeeze).

The signal from the C100 isn't going to be the weak link in the chain. I can guarantee that the composite signal from the C100 is going to be much better than what the projector will show. Are you trying to do IMAG with this (showing the live signal on the screen)?

SDI is a very expensive upgrade to any projector and usually involves adding a card into the unit. You have to be over a $6k price threshold to get that option and then the cards are another $K or two. BNC connectors are used for MANY signal types, for future reference.

well, for whatever reason you don't want to use hdmi, im guessing the projector doesn't have it? then the next best connection on that projector will be the VGA port. sometimes you can just get a hdmi to vga cable, but i don't know if the c100 has a vga signal built into the hdmi, if not, then a converter box will be needed.
