Dumb Question? Can you combine the Anamorphic lense with a 35mm system

If I am trying to get a 16:9 picture on a DVX100 (not A or B) and use the anamorphic lense; am I shut out from using a 35mm system? Is this is a dumb question then apologies in advance, just trying to undertstand.

I think that it is technically doable, but it would be a pretty big hassle IMO. although, if setup right, it could almost work better then the anamorphic adapter without a 35mm rig, since you only have to focus on one thing with the DVX...

what would be "setup right"?

I think this is perfectly viable and a great idea. I never thought of it but it makes more sense even than an anamorphic without an 35mm system. (like dory said). This eliminates the main problem with the anamorphic lens which is focusing because you would never have to move the focus of the anamorphic lens. Once you get it, you're golden.

I think dory means "setup right" to be getting a 35mm system to fit "around" the front element of the anamorphic lens. This is where the hassle would come in because the anamorphic lens is not a round lens like the front of the standard DVX lens. It is almost rectangular shaped so it would be tricky to get it to seal the light and dust from the system.

i dont think you would be able to put the anamorphic lens in front of the adapter at all

So if you want to shoot anamorphic with the mini35, you'll either

a) shoot with normal lenses, and use the camera's in-camera 16:9 mode, or
b) use cinema anamorphic lenses, and end up with a 2.66:1 aspect ratio (because the 1.33 video CCD, with a 2:1 squeeze factor, yields 2.66:1). But, there's really no such thing as a 2.66:1 monitor, so you'd have to crop your picture. Or,

c) Use standard spherical lenses, and figure out some way to add a video anamorphic adapter to the front.

Jaime I think moodhair is trying to put the adapter in front of the anamorphic adapter, not the other way around which is what you said.
